Brand Oak Bitter was created by Ray Penny, the founder and Managing Director, of the Wickwar Brewing Co. early in 1990.

The beer was known as Apprentices bitter during the early days. But was eventually named 'Brand Oak' after the cottage (on the A38 at Stone Gloucestershire) in which Ray lived.

This cottage was once a pub, called 'The Flea and Flat Iron', dating back to the 1600's and is yet another link between, Ray, beer, brewing and pubs.

'Brand Oak Bitter' Or BOB as it has become so widely known, has established itself as one of the best known regional real ales in the country & can now be found in numerous establishments throughout the U.K, both in bottles or cask conditioned.

With its distinct blend of hops, malt & citrus fruit's this award winning classic ale is now more popular than ever.
